>>>emer.jent is a collaborative zine featuring art inspired by the poem 'trees for your bullets' by Jamie Renee Williams. We brought together a group of friends in response to the killing of Black folks during the height of the pandemic. In the following months, we each created art in response to the reading. I gathered everyone's submissions and designed the zine itself. Jamie selected plantable paper studded with wildflower seeds.
If planted, the zine will grow a patch of wildflowers (as seen in the images below). Sales from the zine were donated to support a local, Black-led initiative building gardens on residential lawns and distributing the food to the surrounding community.
